Nude RVing & Camping: What Do You Think About Driving Nude And Clothing-Optional RV Resorts?

Predicaments And Emergencies, RV Campgrounds

nude-rving-by-Skype-Nomad.pngHave you ever been driving down the highway when you pass an RV and notice that the guy behind the wheel doesn’t have his shirt on?

Hmmm… perhaps that RVer’s air conditioner wasn’t working. Or maybe the guy was trying to increase his tan beyond the one arm that he typically perches out the window when driving. Or maybe… just maybe… everyone in that RV was naked as a jaybird!

These days, it’s not uncommon to find RVers enjoying what’s known as a nakation. It’s simply the desire to travel and play in the nude. In fact, there are plenty of resorts and campgrounds which cater to the clothing-optional crowd.

There are so many misconceptions about vacationing sans clothing, it would take an entire article to address them. But let me clear up just a few. Nudists are not perverts, and their resorts — at least the ones represented by AANR — are not seedy. They’re not all retired, though many of them are. And they aren’t exhibitionists looking for a date. In fact, you don’t have to remove all of your clothes at a clothing-optional resort (that’s why they call it clothing optional.)  Source

The American Association for Nude Recreation has more than 213,000 members who enjoy clothing-optional recreation throughout North America.

With nude RVing and naturist camping resorts being so popular, here are some tips before you drive nude or visit a clothing-optional campground for the first time…

Driving Nude

Many nudists find the desire to travel in their clothes-free just too hard to pass up.

Though driving nude is illegal in many states, some feel that the chances of getting caught are so slim it’s worth the risk. After all, it doesn’t take much effort to prevent passing vehicles from seeing what’s going on inside a motorhome.

With so many RV resorts and campgrounds listed as NCN (No Clothing Needed) or TFZ (Textile Free Zone), it’s technically feasible for an RVer to be naked from the moment you pull out of your driveway until you return home. That is, unless you need to stop for fuel along the way.

Of course, if you do get pulled over while driving nude behind the wheel of your RV, it would be wise to have a good excuse in mind for your behavior. Unfortunately, very few reasons will pass muster with the Highway Patrol because there isn’t much that they haven’t seen or heard before.

If driving in the nude while RVing is something that appeals to you, then you probably want to keep a pair of swimming trunks within easy reach. While pulling over, you might have just enough time to slip into them and avoid a ticket. Hopefully, everyone else in your motorhome will be able to cover up during the time that you’re slowing down to pull over as well!

Next, let’s talk about some popular destinations for those who enjoy clothing-optional vacations…

Camping Nude

Beyond the occasional nude beaches that you’ll find here and there as you travel, there are over 270 clubs, resorts, and campgrounds spread all over the U.S. that cater to the nudist community — and the movement to bring nudism out into the open seems to be growing larger every year.

A few years ago, the American Association of Nude Recreation reported that upwards of $400 million dollars had been pumped into the tourism economy from nudists who enjoy this lifestyle. Today, that number is likely to be much larger.

As an example, one travel agency alone claims to have sent over 15,000 people on nude ocean cruises.

So, whether you’re looking for places to camp in the nude, or you just want to make sure you don’t accidentally venture into one of those places, here’s how to find nude campgrounds and nudist RV resorts:

Nudist gatherings have been called the great equalizers. Once you remove the clothing, there is no difference between a bank executive and a bus driver. In a very short period of time, you will feel completely natural and comfortable being seen naked and being in close contact with others who are undressed.

Naturalists don’t consider this lifestyle a sexual activity at all. In fact, it’s considered bad manners to display overt sexuality or to engage in voyeurism at a clothing-optional campground or resort.

Instead, the emphasis is on family-oriented activities — just like at other campgrounds. Some of the activities found at clothing-optional campgrounds are likely to range from volleyball and horseback riding, to hiking, canoeing, and just about anything else you would find at other RV resorts and campgrounds.

Here are 10 nude RV camping spots in America.

Naturism or nudism is a cultural and political movement advocating and defending social nudity in private and in public. It may also refer to a lifestyle based on personal, family and/or social nudism. Several other terms (“social nudity,” “public nudity,” and “clothes-free”) have been proposed as alternative terms for naturism, but none has found the same widespread public acceptance as the older terms “naturism” and (in much of the United States) “nudism.”  Source

A Word About Wearing Flip Flops While RVing

Most of us utilize the cruise control when we’re driving our RVs, right?

Now, imagine what could happen when you attempt to retake control of your heavy RV only to have your flip flop catch on the pedal — causing you to fumble and possibly delay your braking just enough to set you up for an accident.

Flip flops may be a quick and comfortable way to avoid bending down and tying your shoes, but they’re not very safe footwear — especially when RVing.

Heed this RV flip flop warning: tripping, slipping, falling, and even puncture wounds can occur when wearing flip flops while RVing.

So, you should probably keep your flip flops for when you’re in the shower or walking around the campground.  When you’re driving, always wear proper footwear instead.
