The Fall colors are at their most vibrant from September all the way to November -- starting in New England and Minnesota first toward the end of September, and proceeding down throughout the Southeast by mid-November. You might even be up for the Lake Superior Circle Tour, a well-marked highway tour going completely around Lake Superior. You can experience the Canadian part of Lake Superior, cross the locks at Saulte Ste. Marie, then come around through Wisconsin.
