No other lifestyle is so versatile that it can accommodate the needs of many different people.

From entertainers to politicians, to sports professionals to some of the most important people in the country… all make use of RVs for different reasons.

For example, John Madden, the well-known football coach turned TV sportscaster, turned away from the back and forth world of flying cross country when in 1979 he suffered a serious panic attack.  The confined space of a commercial aircraft without the ability to exit at any time triggered a claustrophobic reaction in Madden  After trying a number of alternatives, Madden settled into an RV lifestyle that allowed him to have the luxuries of home with him wherever he traveled.

Along those same lines, many other celebrities have also taken fondly to RVs.

Other Celebrities Who Own RVs

The RV lifestyle has been adopted by people involved in a variety of different professions.

Some have enjoyed it so much they became avid RVers above and beyond the requirements of their chosen field or endeavor.

Jeff Daniels co-starred with Robin Williams in the movie “RV”.

Daniels’ association with RVs goes far beyond his career as an actor though.

I don’t think you can call yourself a true American until you’ve been behind the wheel of an RV.  — Jeff Daniels

Daniels not only starred in a movie about RVs, but he and his family have also owned RVs for years.  Currently their RV of choice is a Gulf Stream Tour Master that they refer to as “The Bus”.  Make the mistake of calling it an RV, and Daniels will stop the bus and make you walk around it.  With a diesel engine and air brakes, the Daniels family RV (errr, bus) is really big!

Actor Matthew McConaughey has an International Ocean Breeze Airstream trailer that he nicknamed “The Canoe.”

It’s one of my favorite places. I’ve got a house, but even when I pull into my house, sometimes I sleep in that thing in my driveway. It’s really comfortable. — Matthew McConaughey

Rock musician Lenny Kravitz bought three RVs for his private island!

Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie took a cross-country trip pulling an Airstream trailer behind a pink pickup truck on their TV program, The Simple Life.

Vin Diesel has a custom mansion on wheels. It’s a 2-story 1,100-square-foot motorhome that’s valued at about $1.1 million. It has a sunroof that, at the touch of a button goes from clear to opaque, or to any transparency in between.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have a vintage Airstream 245 that they’ve nicknamed the “Luv Sub.”

Even Barack Obama said while campaigning for President: “When this convention’s over we are loading up our kids in an RV.”

Alan Jackson, country music singer, purchased a Custom Coach-modified MSV (Mauck Special Vehicle) as well.

Actor, Colin Farrell has a classic Airstream trailer that he uses when he’s filming movies in the United States.

Pam Anderson had her Airstream trailer transformed into a “lovestream” trailer… complete with a vibrating bed and stripper pole. Here’s the video:

What Celebrities Are Saying About RVing

The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA), and others have surveyed noted public figures who have been involved with RVs in one way or another.  Some are names that you will immediately recognize; others are powerful and influential people in the political or business world.

You may be surprised at how long the list of celebrity RV enthusiasts is and what they have to say on the subject of RVing as a lifestyle.

Here’s a sampling…

Dolly Parton, entertainer: “My husband and I have a little RV that we travel around in. We enjoy RVing.“ This video tour will show you the inside of Dolly Parton’s “little” RV:

Bob Gibson, Hall of Fame Major League Baseball pitcher: “I enjoy the RV world. I will have one until the day I die.”
