How To Tell If Yours Is An Analog TV Or A Digital TV ...Better Check The TV In Your RV, Too!

| Comments (0)

tv-with-bars.gif This time next year, there will be a whole lot of useless TVs out there that will no longer be receiving an analog signal.

As you've probably heard by now, the whole country is switching from analog to digital TV signals by February 17, 2009 -- as mandated by the U.S. Government.

What does this mean for RVers?   What about the TVs in RV travel trailers and motorhomes?  How can you tell if a TV is analog or digital anyway?

Rent Movies When You Travel With Services Like Netflix, Amazon & McDonald's Redbox

dvd-movies.jpg We like to watch movies on the TV in our RV. There’s only one problem, I don’t care to watch the same movies over and over again.  Once is enough.  And I see no point in paying $20 to buy a DVD movie.

Fortunately, there are some unique options for RVers who like to watch movies, documentaries, TV episodes, music videos, and more -- whether you're a fulltimer or a weekend traveler.

The Best Boats For RVers Who Enjoy Camping And Fishing

| Comments (0)

quiet-lake-fishing.jpg If you're an RVer who happens to like camping and fishing, then few things would sound better than a weekend evening around the campfire, followed by a misty morning out on the lake to take in a little fishing.

For those who camp in a tent, or a pickup camper, that's no problem.  The same is true if you own a motorhome...  The boat follows along behind on its trailer, and you're ready to go after that Walleye before dawn breaks on your secluded quiet little lake.  But the tent routine is something I gave up about 30 years ago, and most pickup campers are a little too confining for my style.  Suffice it to say I don't own a motorhome... yet.  So my wife and I have become accustomed to the comforts of a travel trailer.

Many states allow a boat trailer to be towed behind travel trailers and fifth wheel campers -- a two-up scenario that will accommodate some smaller boats.  You still have to be within specified total length limits and you can absolutely forget about backing up such a combination.  But for some, this is the perfect answer to the “How do I bring the boat?“ question.

However, there are still some states that restrict the "second trailer boat hauling method" to fifth wheel trailers only. And some don‘t allow it at all.  This leaves those with travel trailers out of the water in states like Minnesota, Michigan, and a few others.

No problem, a rack on the back of your pickup truck will provide the ability to carry a car top boat.  Great, we’ve covered everything.  Now we can go fishing.

The Difference Between Road Mapping Software & GPS ...And Why Every RVer Needs One

| Comments (0)

delorme-street-atlas-earthmate-gps.jpg Large recreational vehicles face many of the same issues on the road that are common in the trucking industry -- like being able to turn around a big rig, making wide turns, and difficulty backing up, to name a few. That's why mapping software and GPS units can be lifesavers for RVers.

Picture this late night event...
With nothing more then a general idea of where I was going, and an address jotted down on a scrap of paper, I was coming into New Orleans. My 1-ton truck with 40-foot gooseneck trailer had a total length of about 60 feet. I saw the exit that was labeled with the street name I was watching for at the very last second.

As soon as I got off the freeway, I knew I was in trouble.

An RVer's Review Of Flashlights For RV Camping

If you have someone in your life who is a fulltime RVer, I'll bet you have heard this phrase. "Please don't feel like you have to buy me a gift for [insert occasion here]. I just don't have room for anything."

I have had the hardest time convincing my family that I really don't want gifts, unless it is something really useful.

If you really must give an RVer a present, a gift of light is one that is always appreciated.
